Google has started rolling out agentic booking capabilities within its experimental AI Mode in Search Labs, giving users the ability to find and book restaurant reservations, event tickets, and wellness appointments directly through AI-assisted search.
The limited rollout is currently available to eligible U.S. users (18+, English language, personal Google accounts with Search Labs access).
AI Mode Expands Into Automated Bookings
Announced by Robby Stein, Google’s VP of Product for Search, the AI Mode update allows users to perform multi-site searches that return real-time booking options. The system curates available times, ticket prices, and appointment slots from multiple providers, then links directly to the booking site for completion.
Currently, AI Mode supports three main categories:
Restaurant Reservations:
All eligible Search Labs users can request dining options using conversational prompts such as:
“Find me a dinner reservation for 3 people this Friday after 6 p.m. around Logan Square, craving ramen or bibimbap.”
The AI then displays available reservation times with booking links.
Event Tickets:
Available for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, AI Mode can locate concert and event tickets based on price and seating preferences, for example:
“Find me two cheap tickets for the Shaboozey concert—prefer standing floor tickets.”
Wellness Appointments:
Also limited to Pro and Ultra subscribers, this feature searches local service providers for real-time wellness and fitness appointment availability and connects users to the provider’s booking page.
How It Works
AI Mode scans multiple websites in real time to find the best available options, presenting users with a curated list of results. Users complete the final reservation or purchase directly on the provider’s website, maintaining transparency and control throughout the process.
Eligibility and Requirements
These eligibility details are listed on the official experiment page.
Why It Matters
The rollout marks an important step in Google’s shift toward AI-powered task automation, allowing users to skip multiple booking sites and instead manage discovery, comparison, and decision-making within a single AI-driven query.
While bookings are still completed on the original provider’s site, AI Mode streamlines the search and selection process, potentially reshaping how consumers interact with online booking platforms.
Early Rollout and Future Expansion
Google describes this as an early-stage test that may occasionally generate errors. The company is actively collecting user feedback to refine accuracy and expand availability.
The feature rollout will continue gradually, with broader access expected in the coming weeks as Google refines its AI-driven search assistant capabilities.
