Google has officially begun rolling out early access to Gemini for Home, a voice assistant for the United States – a long-anticipated integration that brings its powerful AI model to smart home devices. Users can now say “Hey Google” for standard help or initiate more natural, conversational interactions with Gemini Live by saying, “Hey Google, let’s chat.”

In its official statement, Google wrote:

“Today, we’re starting the early access rollout of the Gemini for Home voice assistant in the U.S. We plan to expand to more countries in 2026.”

Along with the announcement, Google published a detailed Q&A guide that includes 100 real examples of how users can talk to Gemini on their home devices, from asking for information and entertainment to managing smart home settings and conversations with Gemini Live.

Supported Devices

Gemini for Home will work across all Google speakers and displays released since 2016, including:

  • Google Nest Hub (1st & 2nd gen)
  • Google Nest Hub Max
  • Google Home & Home Max
  • Google Nest Mini (1st & 2nd gen)
  • Google Nest Audio
  • Google Nest Wifi Point

Additionally, Gemini Live, which enables deeper conversational experiences, will be available for Google Home Premium subscribers on both the Standard and Advanced plans. Supported devices for Gemini Live include:

  • Google Nest Hub (2nd gen)
  • Google Nest Hub Max
  • Google Nest Audio
  • Google Nest Mini (2nd gen)

How to Access Gemini Early

Users in the U.S. can sign up for early access through the Google Home app (version 4.1 or higher) by following these steps:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Settings (in the new design, found by tapping your profile icon; in the old design, click the Settings tab).
  • Select Early Access.
  • You’ll receive a notification once Gemini features are available for your home devices.

At launch, Gemini for Home voice assistant supports English only.

Why It Matters

This rollout represents a major step in Google’s plan to bring Gemini’s AI capabilities into everyday home interactions. With Gemini integrated into Nest speakers and displays, users will be able to hold more natural conversations, get smarter answers, and enjoy AI-powered assistance that adapts to context and user intent.

The expansion to other countries is expected in 2026, further extending Google’s AI ecosystem beyond mobile and desktop.
