OpenAI has announced that it is rolling out its project-sharing feature to all ChatGPT users, including those on Free, Plus, Pro, and budget Go plans. Previously, this feature was available only to users subscribed to OpenAI’s Business, Enterprise, and Education plans. With this expansion, users across different plans can now share and collaborate on ChatGPT projects, enabling more seamless teamwork and content creation.
The project-sharing functionality allows users to share their ChatGPT projects with others, who can then participate in editing and contributing to the work. This feature is available on web, iOS, and Android devices. However, different plans come with specific sharing limits:
- Free Plan: Collaborate on up to 5 files with 5 collaborators.
- Plus and Go Plans: Share up to 25 files with 10 collaborators.
- Pro Plan: Share up to 40 files with 100 collaborators.
OpenAI has suggested several use cases for the new feature, including:
- Group Work: Upload notes, proposals, and contracts so that collaborators can quickly draft deliverables and stay aligned.
- Content Creation: Use project-specific instructions to ensure tone and style consistency across different contributors.
- Reporting: Store datasets and reports in one place and generate weekly updates without having to start from scratch.
- Research: Keep transcripts, survey results, and market research in a single location, allowing team members to query and build on findings.
Project owners can control visibility by selecting between “Only those invited” or “Anyone with a link” options. These settings can be changed at any time, including switching back to invite-only access.
Summary
OpenAI has made its project-sharing feature available to all ChatGPT users across multiple plans, enhancing collaboration capabilities. Users can now work together on files with varying limits based on their subscription, with customizable sharing and visibility settings for greater flexibility.
